Printing press cleaning by component and residue

Describe the press, the target components, and the ink or production deposits before defining the cleaning method. A press-frame clean and a precision roller-cleaning requirement should have separate acceptance criteria.

Dry ice cleaning is used for selected ink, grease, and production residue on accessible printing equipment. The equipment surface, residue, and manufacturer’s requirements determine the scope to evaluate.

Flexographic presses and roller surfaces

For a flexographic press, include the press model, the ink system, and the components needing cleaning. Identify anilox, rubber-covered, ceramic-coated, or other precision rollers separately.

Provide close-ups and the manufacturer’s cleaning guidance. If the objective concerns anilox-cell condition or ink-transfer performance, state the required inspection or measurement. A visual cleaning result alone does not establish roller capacity or print performance.

Plan access around the production schedule

List which guards, trays, or components your team will remove and when the press can be isolated. Identify nearby web paths, ink systems, sensitive components, and surfaces excluded from the work.

Include the unloading route, workspace, compressed-air information, and collection of dislodged deposits. Coordinate the proposed cleaning window with maintenance and production staff.

Test and document the selected application

Choose a representative component or area and agree on the intended condition after cleaning. Record the residue, substrate, preparation, and inspection points before the test.

Separate cleaning from roller repair, recoating, mechanical adjustment, and print-process verification. Identify who performs any checks needed before the press returns to production.

Connect press cleaning to repeat maintenance

The printing industry page connects press cleaning with routine maintenance. Use packaging equipment cleaning for related converting equipment and adhesive residue removal for adhesive deposits.

Review scheduled cleaning and project pricing using a defined press and component list. Discuss a test cleaning when residue or surface response needs evaluation.

Process reference: Cold Jet application guidance. Project suitability requires a separate assessment.
