Plastic injection mold cleaning with dry ice
Define the tool, molding material, deposit, and finish before choosing a cleaning approach. This service concerns industrial tooling. It does not describe biological mold removal from buildings or household plastic.
Dry ice blasting is used for selected mold-release and production deposits on accessible tooling. The application review should distinguish removable buildup from wear, corrosion, coating deterioration, or damage that requires tool repair.
Cavities, vents, and detailed surfaces
Identify cavity detail, texture, vents, shutoffs, parting lines, and any coated or polished surfaces involved. Provide close-up photographs and the toolmaker’s cleaning restrictions. State which features need inspection after cleaning.
Include the resin or molding compound, release agent, process temperature, and the observed residue. Describe what has been tried already and whether any areas have been repaired or refinished.
In-press or removed-tool access
Tell us whether the mold remains in the press or is removed. Include how the target surfaces are reached, who controls equipment isolation, and the condition in which the tool will be presented.
An in-press location does not by itself establish that the work can be performed safely or without preparation. Access, operating condition, protection, and the site’s release procedure need agreement.
Set the test and acceptance criteria
Choose a representative area that includes the actual residue and finish. Agree on the inspection points, deposits to remove, and features to preserve. Record any areas excluded from the test.
Keep cleaning acceptance separate from dimensional inspection, tool repair, or verification of finished-part quality. Those checks should remain defined in the facility’s own process.
Connect the tool to the maintenance plan
