Define the weld fixture cleaning objective

Identify the fixture, robot cell, or surrounding equipment and the deposits requiring attention. Include the equipment model, asset identifiers, photographs, and the condition needed for the maintenance team’s next inspection.

Dry ice cleaning may be evaluated for selected oils, process residue, and deposits on accessible equipment surfaces. Fused metal, fixture damage, or worn locating surfaces require a separate assessment.

Fixtures, locating surfaces, and protected components

Identify clamps, locating points, guards, accessible housings, and the areas excluded from the scope. Provide the manufacturer’s cleaning restrictions and note sensors, cables, seals, and other components requiring protection.

If the request includes weld spatter, show its condition in close-up photographs. Do not assume that strongly bonded metal deposits can be removed or that cleaning restores a worn fixture.

Coordinate isolation and access

The site plan should identify the person responsible for equipment isolation and the conditions under which access to the cell is permitted. State who removes guarding or parts and who controls the work area.

Include the equipment sequence, available window, adjacent work, and responsibility for collecting removed material. Cleaning should not be presented as authorization to work on moving or energized equipment.

Test the application and define handback checks

Choose a representative surface and deposit, agree on what should be removed, and document the result. Identify areas that require another process or maintenance activity.

Keep cleaning acceptance separate from robot calibration, electrical work, fixture repair, and production verification. The facility should define the checks required before the cell returns to operation.

Build the cell into the maintenance program

Connect the component list with industrial machinery cleaning and the shutdown plan. Set priorities when several cells are available for a limited window.

Use scheduled maintenance to record repeat inspection points and pricing and project scope to define preparation, materials, access, and exclusions.
