Deposits removed from commercial walkways and floors

We remove flattened chewing gum and dirt embedded in gum deposits at entrances, along sidewalks and on specified hard floors. Adhered gum, surrounding staining and general pavement cleaning have separate scopes.

Operational benefits

  • Remove gum spots without flooding entrances or indoor floors with wash water.
  • Treat affected deposits within a defined work zone.
  • Schedule cleaning around opening hours and pedestrian access.

Non-toxic dry ice and eco-friendly cleaning benefits

Dry ice is a non-toxic cleaning medium. Dry ice blasting cleans with solid CO₂ and compressed air without detergents, solvents, wash water or added abrasive grit. Its environmental benefits include no chemical rinse water and no spent blasting media from the blasting step.

Food-grade dry ice is a food-safe cleaning medium used for food-processing equipment. Food-facility cleaning still follows the site’s sanitation, allergen-control and equipment-release procedures.

The dry ice turns into gas. Removed deposits still require collection, and ventilation and protective equipment remain part of the cleaning setup.

Where commercial gum removal fits

A busy entrance can have a few stubborn spots or hundreds of gum deposits spread across a walkway. Those are different jobs. We scope the number of deposits, the area to be treated, and any surrounding dirt or staining separately. Retail centers, office properties, schools, transit facilities, hospitality sites, and municipal walkways may need scheduled work outside their busiest hours.

We remove chewing gum from sound concrete walks, brick or stone pavers, building entrances and compatible indoor hard floors. Coatings, sealers, polished finishes, grout and older masonry need surface-specific cleaning settings.

How dry ice cleaning removes chewing gum

A dry ice blasting machine sends solid CO₂ particles through a nozzle using compressed air. The cold impact loosens adhered gum so it releases from the surface. The dry ice changes to gas, leaving no spent solid blasting media, but the loosened gum and other debris still require collection. Equipment manufacturer Cryonomic documents chewing gum removal on paved public areas.

Dry ice can be useful where introducing wash water would complicate the work. It still creates noise and needs an access, ventilation, debris-control, and pedestrian-separation plan. For indoor floors, we also review CO₂ monitoring needs, nearby occupants, and the floor manufacturer’s care instructions. The site’s facility requirements guide explains the broader work-area review.

Test the surface and define the result

Dry ice cleaning removes the bulk gum deposit; old gum can leave a dark mark in a porous surface. We agree on the target appearance and any separate stain-treatment work in the quote. A sample area establishes the cleaning settings for coated, polished or weathered finishes.

Extra care is needed on weak stone, deteriorated mortar, wet masonry, decorative pavers, and coated or polished floors. Restoration-industry masonry cleaning guidance notes that dry ice blasting can pit a surface or affect wet masonry. If a test changes the finish or falls short of the desired appearance, we discuss another method rather than extend the treatment.

Plan access, collection, and a work window

For a sidewalk or entrance, identify the pedestrian route, nearby doors, vehicles, planters, glazing, and any permitted work hours. For an indoor floor, provide the floor type, finish or sealer details, ventilation information, and adjacent occupied areas. The gum and loosened debris need collection after blasting. Scheduling may require barriers, a temporary alternate route, or a closure window agreed with the property manager.

How a commercial gum removal quote is scoped

A useful quote starts with photos and a count or estimate of the gum spots. We also need the surface material, approximate area, property address, access hours, and whether another cleaning contractor already handles general sidewalk washing. Setup, compressed air, dry ice, protection, debris collection, and travel all affect a mobile job. A single isolated spot may be better handled within existing property maintenance; grouped spots or a defined site program make practical projects for a mobile cleaning crew.

Commercial gum removal questions

Can dry ice remove bubble gum from concrete?

Yes. Dry ice cleaning removes chewing and bubble gum from sound concrete. Older gum can leave a stain in porous concrete, so the quote distinguishes gum removal from any further stain treatment.

Can you work on tile, stone, or sealed floors?

We clean gum from compatible hard floors using settings matched to the material and finish. Send the tile, stone, coating or sealer details. Fragile stone, polished finishes and grout need a sample area and specific protection.

Does dry ice leave a clean sidewalk with no cleanup?

No. The dry ice itself becomes gas, while detached gum, grit, and other material must be collected. A cleaned patch can also differ in color from the surrounding weathered surface.
